How to Use 'Web Disk' in cPanel?

Using Web Disk in cPanel helps to manage your website files directly from your computer. Follow these steps to get started:

  1.  Log into cPanel
First login to your cPanel account using your username and password. This will take you to the main dashboard.
  2. Find Web Disk
Once you’re on the cPanel dashboard, look for the 'Files' section. Under this section, click on 'Web Disk'.
  3. Set Up Access
In the Web Disk interface, you will notice options to configure Web Disk for different users. You may either use your existing account or create a new one.
  4. Create a New User
If you want to create a new user, provide a username and password.
  5. Set Permissions
Choose the user's permissions. 'Read-Only' says that they can only read the files, whereas 'Read-Write' lets  them access and edit them.
    1. Choose Your Operating System
Web Disk supports a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux. Select the operating system you're using.
    2. Run the Script
Windows: Double-click the downloaded script and follow the prompts.
macOS: Open Terminal, navigate to where you downloaded the script, and run it by typing ./script_name.
Linux: Use the Terminal to run the script in a similar manner.
  6. Connect to Web Disk
After running the script, your Web Disk will appear as a network drive on your computer. This means you can manage your website files just like any other files on your computer.
  7. Manage Your Files
Open your file manager (like File Explorer on Windows or Finder on macOS) to access the Web Disk. You can drag and drop files, copy, move, or delete them easily.
  8. Keep Your Files Secure
If you have created a new user for Web Disk, remember to log out when you’re done. This keeps your files secure and prevents unnecessary access.
  9.  Troubleshooting
If you find any problems, check the cPanel support documentation or contact your hosting provider for assistance.

Using Web Disk allows you to manage your website's files without the need to log into cPanel each time. It's a simple method to keep your site updated and organized from your desktop.
