How to Use File Manager in cPanel?


You can easily manage the files on your website with cPanel's File Manager.Here’s astep-by-step guide to help you use the File Manager:

  1. Log in to cPanel
    Go to your cPanel login page by opening your web browser. Enter your username and password. Click the "Log in" button.
  2. Access File Manager
    To access the File Manager in the cPanel dashboard, simply scroll down to the "Files" section and click on "File Manager".
  3. Navigate the File Manager
    When you open File Manager, you will see a list of folders and files.The left-hand side displays a directory tree with folders within folders, while the right-hand side shows the contents of the selected folder.
  4. Common Tasks in File Manager
    1. Uploading Files
      ● Go to the folder where the file is to be uploaded.
      ● At the top of the page, select the "Upload" button.
      ● To open a file saved on your computer, click "Select File".
      ● Wait till the upload is completed.
    2. Creating Folders
      ● Go to the directory where you want to add a new folder.
      ● Choose the "New Folder" button located at the top of the page.
      ● Click "Create New Folder" after giving it a new name.
    3. Deleting Files and Folders
      ● Select the file or folder that needs to be deleted.
      ● On the page, select the "Delete" button.
      ● Confirm the deletion.
    4. Renaming Files and Folders
      ● Select the file or folder that should be renamed.
      ● Select the "Rename" button situated at the top of the page.
      ● After renaming the file, click "Rename File."
    5. Editing Files
      ● After choosing the file to be edited, click "Edit."
      ● Click "Save Changes" when you're done editing.

    1. Compressing Files
      ● Select the folders or files that you wish to compress.
      ● On the page, click the "Compress" button.
