How to Set Up Zone Editor in cPanel?

The Zone Editor in cPanel allows you to manage DNS records for your domain. These records control where your domain points to, such as your website or email server. Follow these steps to
set up and manage your DNS records using the Zone Editor in cPanel.

  1. Log into cPanel
    Go into your cPanel account first. Go to yourdomain.com/cpanel and enter your username and password to log in.
  2. Locate the Zone Editor
    Once logged in, navigate to the "Domains" section of your cPanel dashboard. Click the "Zone Editor" icon.
  3. Choose your Domain
    The Zone Editor displays a list of your domains. Locate the domain you wish to control and select the "Manage" option next to it.
  4. Add a DNS Record
    1. Click the "Add Record" button to add a new DNS record.
    2. You will need to choose the type of DNS record you want to add:
      1. A Record: gives an IP address to your domain. Use this to direct your domain to your website's server.
      2. CNAME Record: Points your domain to another domain name. Use this for subdomains
        like "www" or "mail".
      3. MX Record: Directs email to a mail server. Use this to set up email for your domain.
      4. TXT Record: Adds text information to your domain Use this for a variety of purposes,
        such as confirming domain ownership.
      5. Enter the required details for the record:
        1. Name: The part of your domain you are setting up (e.g., "www" or leave blank for the
          root domain).
        2. TTL: Time to Live, which tells how long the record should be cached. Use the default
          value if you're unsure.
        3. Record Type: Select the type of record you are adding (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, etc.).
        4. Record Data: The actual data for the record. For instance, the domain name for a CNAME record or the IP address for an A record.
  5. Save the Record
    After entering all the required information, click the "Add Record" button to save your new DNS record. You will see a confirmation message that the record has been added successfully.
  6. Edit or Delete a Record
    To edit an existing DNS record, find the record in the list and click the "Edit" button next to it. Enter your changes, then click "Save Record" to apply the changes. Click the "Delete" button next to the record you want to remove to remove it.
  7. Test the DNS Modifications
    It can take up to 48 hours for DNS updates to propagate over the internet. Once propagation has taken place, check your DNS modifications by going to the domain or by utilizing online DNS lookup resources.
