How to Set Up phpMyAdmin in cPanel?


phpMyAdmin is a widely used tool that provides a web interface for managing MySQL databases. Follow the steps to get started.

  1. Log in to cPanel
    Go to your cPanel login page by opening your web browser. Enter your username and password.
  2. Find phpMyAdmin
    Once logged into cPanel, find the "phpMyAdmin" icon. It is usually found in the "Databases" section. Clicking on it opens phpMyAdmin.
  3. Navigating phpMyAdmin
    When you open phpMyAdmin, you'll see a list of your databases on the left side. Click on the database you want to manage.This will open the database, showing its tables and other options.
  4. Creating a Database
    It's simple to make a database if you don't already have one:
    1. Return to the dashboard of cPanel.
    2. Under the "Databases" section, look for and click the "MySQL Databases" icon.
    3. Give your new database a name in the "Create New Database" area, then click "Create Database."
  5. Creating a Database User
    You also need a user to access the database:
    1. Still in the “MySQL Databases” section, scroll down to “MySQL Users” and enter a username and password.
      Click “Create User.”
    2. Next, you need to assign this user to your database
      Choose the user and the database you made from the dropdown menus in the "Add User To Database" section.
      Select "Add."
    3. Click "Make Changes" after selecting "ALL PRIVILEGES" on the following screen.
  6.  Managing Your Database with phpMyAdmin
    Now that your database is set up, you can use phpMyAdmin to manage it:
    1. Viewing Tables: Click on your database name in phpMyAdmin to see all its tables.
    2. Running Queries: Use the “SQL” tab to run SQL queries directly on your database.
    3. Importing/Exporting Data: Use the “Import” and “Export” tabs to import data into your database or export it for backup.
    4. Editing Tables:To examine and edit the structure and data of a table, simply click on it.

Using phpMyAdmin on cPanel makes managing MySQL databases simple. Use the interface to easily conduct activities such as database creation, table management, SQL query execution, and database health monitoring.
