How to Set Up Password and Security in cPanel?

Keeping your cPanel account secure is crucial to protecting your website and data. Here’s how to set up and manage your password and security settings in cPanel:

  1. Log in to cPanel
If you’re not already logged in, enter your cPanel username and password to access the cPanel dashboard.
  2. Find the Password & Security Icon
    1. On the cPanel dashboard, find the "Preferences" section. Click on the "Password & Security" icon. It usually looks like a lock.
    2. To change your password, enter it in the "Old Password" section and enter your new password in the "New Password" section.
    3. To verify the new password, enter it once more in the "New Password (again)" section.
    4. Make sure your password is strong and consists of a combination of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. To save the updated password, click the "Change your password now" button.
  3. Set Up Two-Factor Authentication
    1. Click the "Set Up Two-Factor Authentication" button located in the "Two-Factor Authentication" section.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan the QR code with your authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy).
    3. Enter the code generated by the app to verify and enable 2FA. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of authentication when you log in.
  4. Other Security Settings
Review other security settings available in this section to enhance your account security. Enable account notifications for suspicious activity and regularly update your contact
    information.
  5. Tips for Password and Security
    1. Regular Updates: Change your password regularly to keep your account secure.
    2. Strong Passwords: Don't reuse passwords from other websites; instead, create strong, one-of-a-kind passwords for your cPanel account.
    3. Turn on 2FA: This extra security measure, which adds another layer of protection, is strongly advised.

This is how to set up password and security settings in cPanel to protect your account and data.
