How to Set Up Backup Wizard in cPanel?

Setting up Backup Wizards in cPanel allows you to easily create and manage backups of your website's data. Follow these steps to get started:

  1.  Log in to cPanel
First login to your cPanel account using your username and password. This will lead you to the main dashboard.
  2. Finding the Backup Wizard
Once you're in the cPanel dashboard, look for the “Backup Wizard” icon. It's usually found under the “Files” section. Click on it to open the Backup Wizard.
  3. Starting the Backup Process
The Backup Wizard will give you two options: " Backup" and "Restore." Since we want to back up your website, click on the “Backup” button.
  4. Choosing Backup Type
Next, you'll need to choose the type of backup you want. The Backup Wizard offers two options:
    1. Full Backup: This backs up everything in your account – files, databases, email, etc. This is great for a complete backup, but remember that you can’t restore a full backup through the Backup Wizard. You'll need to ask your web host to do it for you.
    2. Partial Backup: This allows you to back up specific parts of your account, like your home directory, databases, or email forwarders. Choose the option that best fits your needs.
  5. Generating the Backup
If you have chosen “Full Backup,” you’ll be prompted to choose a destination for your backup file. The default option is the “Home Directory.” You can also send the backup to a remote FTP server. After selecting the location, click “Generate Backup.” For partial backups, select the part you wish to back up, such as "Home Directory," and then click "Download." The backup will be kept on your computer.
  6. Downloading the Backup
Once the backup is complete, you'll see a message confirming this. For full backups, you might need to refresh the page until the backup file appears in the list. To download the file to your computer, click on its name.

By following these steps, you can effectively set up Backup Wizard in cPanel.
