How to Set up a Domain in cPanel?

Setting up a domain in cPanel is an easy step that will allow you to efficiently manage your website. To get your domain up and running, follow these steps.

  1. Log into cPanel
Go to the cPanel login page and enter your username and password. To enter your cPanel dashboard, simply click the "Log in" button.
  2. Add a Domain
Once logged in, find the "Domains" section in your cPanel dashboard. Select "Domains" or "Add on Domains" by clicking the icon.
  3.  Enter Domain Details
In the "New Domain Name" field, enter the domain name you want to set up (e.g.yourwebsite.com).The domain name you entered will cause the "Subdomain" and "Document Root" sections to automatically fill in. The folder where your website files will be kept is called the document root, and the subdomain is a prefix used for internal reference.
  4. Set up an FTP account (optional).
If you would like to create a new FTP account for this domain, select the option labeled "Create an FTP account associated with this Addon Domain". Set a username and password for your new FTP account. You can upload files to the document root directory of your domain using this account.
  5. Add the Domain
To complete the setting, tap the "Add Domain" button. There will be a notification verifying that your domain has been successfully added.
  6. Update DNS Settings
Go to the website of the company where you purchased your domain, the registrar. Locate the DNS management or settings area. Change the nameservers to point to the nameservers of your hosting company. These nameservers can usually be found in your hosting account's documentation or by contacting your hosting provider's support.
  7. Verify the domain
It often takes up to 48 hours for the DNS updates to take effect. After propagation, return to cPanel and use the "Zone Editor" or "DNS Zone Manager" in the "Domains" section to ensure that the domain is correctly pointed to your hosting server.
  8. Upload Your Website Files
Choose "File Manager" from the cPanel "Files" menu. Go to the document root directory of your new domain. Add your website's files to this directory.

You've successfully set up a domain in cPanel. Your website is now ready to be accessed through your new domain.
